CSA Work Shares

Rewarding to your body, mind, & wallet!

What is the Work Share program?  We offer the work share program as an opportunity for you to come to the farm for a hands-on work experience as part of a team, in exchange for a discounted CSA share.

How much work is required?  About 2-3 hours each week during the growing season.  Total work hours depend on which share option you choose.  We have a flexible work schedule to help you fit it into your busy life.

What do I receive in return for my work?  Get a reduced rate on a Family or Single Share ~ take home your weekly share of the veggies you helped grow and harvest!

What if I change my mind about doing a Work Share?

No problem. You can convert your share to a paid Single or Family share if you find that the work isn't for you. We calculate your work hours to be $8.50/hour, and any worked hours will be deducted from the cost of your converted Single or Family share.

What sort of work is it? What do I need to bring?

Tuesdays and Fridays are our harvest days, so if you come to work on those days expect to be picking veggies for the CSA with us. Wednesdays and Saturdays are typically spent planting, weeding or other farm work. Regardless of what day you come, you can expect to be working outside, in the field, in all types of weather (with the exception of thunderstorms). And we do get dirty, so work clothes are advised! So please do come prepared with layers of clothing, sturdy shoes, gloves, sunblock, hat, and a bottle of water to keep you hydrated on hot days.

Do I need to have experience working on a farm?

Not at all! Everyone is welcome to the Work Share team, regardless of work experience. Although, if you do have some gardening in your background, we heartily welcome you.

Can I bring a friend or my children?

Absolutely! Your friend's help will count toward your quota of work share hours. And if your children contribute work their time counts as well - we do decide on whether their work counts on a child-by-child basis. If they prefer to play instead of work, that is fine - we do have a swingset, sandbox and trampoline they can occupy themselves with. If so then just your work counts toward your hours.

Get exercise, sunshine, and fresh air amid beautiful scenery, meet friends in our community, and learn how to grow a garden, all while earning a discount on your produce.  This is a very rewarding, life-changing experience!
